Bigtimers and Les Ateliers Claus bring you the 3D noise!. A spectacular sound + laser show distorting your sense of time and space. Mindbending electronica from an australian artist who releases mainly for Editions Mego and who has recorded also with artists such as Anthony Pateras (Editions Mego/Synaesthesia) and with double bassist Clayton Thomas (Room 40). He has also performed with the likes of Oren Ambarchi, Lasse Marhaug, Jerome Noetinger, Stephen O’Malley and Erick D’Orion among others. A Handful of Automation (deMego, 2010) is his first full length solo audio release. More recently, the Warsaw based label Bocian has released his first solo 7″ More Impossible Futures. Electronic music at its best, from shimmering digital inventiveness to analogue mastery, from harsh to subtle, from detritus to infinite and back.
His laser show describes, in three-dimensional visual space, the geometry of sound. Enveloping the audience in synchronous sound and light information, the experience resembles a synaesthetic experience where what you hear is also what you see. The same electricity generated to move the speaker cones is sent simultaneously to high-speed motors that deflect the laser light on an x/y axis converting sonic vibration into light movement. The laser-based performance is an extension of previous work undertaken using Cathode Ray Oscilloscopes to create audio-visual equivalence. His groundbreaking work with Chunky Move has contributed to the recent piece Mortal Engine winning a Helpmann award for Best Visual Production and an Honorary mention at the illustrious Prix Ars Electronica. He also scored the critically acclaimed work Connected with Oren Ambarchi and has produced two works, RGB and Drift, with groundbreaking new choreographer Antony Hamilton.
